My two areas of interest seem at first very different from each other, but actually they're not.

Firstly, I use the TAPESTRY-CROCHET technique to create original, one-of-a-kind Vessels, Sculptures, and two-dimensional Artworks, mainly in cotton and linen yarns, and often using fine DMC cotton embroidery-floss as "yarn".  The works are small, colourful and labour-intensive.

Secondly, I create  MULTI MEDIA WORKS on paper, using polycolour pencil, again smallish, often very detailed, but with rich glowing colour: subject-matter from realistic still-life to non-objective abstraction, and in between.  Acrylic painted works are often larger, either on paper or canvas.  I like acrylics because they can range from wash effects to heavy applications of paint showing the brush strokes if desired.

Sometimes I combine coloured pencil and paint, as well as using some special techniques, all in one work, usually on fine paper. I often use Arches papers; their Aquarelle brand is excellent when a smooth surface is required.

Birds have been a recurring theme for me lately, but I also create stylized landscapes, still-life studies, and works that have a touch of the surreal.  I have made a series of cards based on Birds of Ontario ( one for each month) and am now working on another series of Exotic Birds.  These are for sale in sets of 6 for $ 30. (includes envelopes, tax and mailing.  Bird images shown will indicate if there is a printed card available. )
